Narvijay Yadav & Dr Ashok Sharma at Mahabodhi Chandigarh Free Eye Camp
Chandigarh, 16 October, 2011, Specttrum News: Dr Ashok Sharma, one of the leading cornea surgeons of the region and Director of Chandigarh-based Cornea Centre checked over 50 inmates of Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre’s girls hostel today for various eye diseases at a free eye camp held at village Ramgarh. The eye camp was organized by Prakash Foundation, a volunteer organization, dedicated for the upliftment of rural India and agriculture community.
The eye camp was volunteered by Dr Ashok Sharma and his team, shortly before his departure for United States, where he shall be attending the Annual Conferences of Eye Bank Association of America and American Academy of Ophthalmology at Orlando. Dr Sharma will also deliver a lecture on safety of corneal collagen cross-linking, a very new procedure for the treatment of keratoconus.
It is a rare distinction for Dr Sharma, as he is the first Ophthalmologist from North India to deliver a lecture at Eye Bank Association of America. He shall also be addressing Amercian Academy of Ophthalmology on use of Dry Amniotic Membrane in healing of corneal ulcers. American Academy of Ophthalmology is the largest meeting attended by more than 30,000 delegates from more than 150 countries. Dr Sharma’s Cornea Centre is serving patients from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttranchal and Uttar Pradesh for various eye and cornea related problems.
Speaking at the occasion Mr Narvijay Yadav, Founder President, Prakash Foundation said, “We firstly thank Dr Ashok Sharma for taking out his most valuable time for such a noble cause and wish him great success for his conferences in USA. We are fortunate to have him with us today and highly appreciate his selfless efforts and contribution towards underprivileged children of remote villages from Ladakh.”
