Prakash Foundation demands rural toilets
Budaun, June 22, 2012: Despite the various debates and meetings held over the
problem of proper sanitary and drainage system in villages, there is no sign of
progress. The recent being the meeting headed by District Panchayati Raj
Officer (DPRO) Mr R S Chaudhary with Gram Secretary and Gram Officers of Budaun
district, in which he ensured that atleast 40 toilets are mandatory for every
village.
Mr Narvijay Yadav, founder president, Prakash Foundation, who hails from Palai Village remarked “The recent surveys indicate that Badaun ranks 25th
in the whole state in terms of availability of clean and hygienic toilets.
Which makes it quite shocking to know that Palai village of Bisauli Tehsil
of the very same district does not posses even a single toilet of the mentioned
category”.
He
also added “It seems that the whole concentration and liberty of the state
government is at the disposal of Noida and Ghaziabad only. But it should be understood
that whole of the state cannot reside in these two regions”.
Not
only the sanitation problem but even the constant flood every year is the other
major problem faced by Palai costing heavy loss of harvest. The root cause
being Singhtra river where waters gets accumulated because of blockage of canal
meant to drain out the water. Even with sincere efforts of Prakash Foundation
and state government the project which started with a full throttle is now at
halt. The village also lacks basic amenities like electricity and sanitary
drains.
