Prakash Foundation raises flood concern with DM of Badaun

The dangerous Singthara Jheel

Chandigarh, 24 August 2011, Spectrum News: Nearly 7 decades post-independence there are still places in the country which have drastically failed to catch up even with a hint of development and moderanisation. The Singthara lake which was ceding wide spread damage in the pre-independence times is still rendering havoc over thousands of acres land every year and the matter is going un-attended at all levels of state governance. The Bisauli Tehsil of Budaun District in Western UP has been witnessing this devastation continously, where crops and infrastructure worth lakhs of Rupees is destroyed every year. Lack of Administrative responsibility and corruption has marred the right to safe and hygienic survival of the people of this region.

A national level NGO ‘Prakash Foundation’, which aims for the development and up-liftment of Rural India, has undertaken the responsibility to ease the subsiding situation of the area and with the intent the foundation has written a letter to the District Magistrate of Budaun seeking his personal attention and perusal on the situation. The foundation has sought for a time bound solution to the problem.

Senior Journalist and PR professional Narvijay Yadav, Founder Member, Prakash Foundation said, “We are raising this utmost important issue of social and economic concern with the administration. It is ironical than one side slogans of India Shining are boosting the urban country but on the other end Rural India is still suffering. Year after year the people have suffered due to negligence and in-capability of the administration.”

The said matter was also raised with the state long back in 1987 while Narvijay Yadav was a student of Allahabad University. He toured the entire region and chalked a plan for easy drainage of flood water. The concern was highlighted through local media and with the intervention by the then MLA & Irrigation Minister Late Mr Bhola Shankar Maurya special emergency orders for digging of a drain from Singhthara Jheel to Sot River were issued by the state government. Ironically the region is facing the same state once again and forced to face the fury of nature year after year, due to the negligence and disjunctive approach of the state government and district administration.
